Dr.Kallarackal grew up locally in Germantown, Maryland. She attended the University of Maryland at College Park where she majored in Neurobiology Physiology. Dr. Kallarackal developed a passion for optometry at a young age due to her need for eyeglasses when she was seven and frequent trips to the eye doctors’ office. She loved the feeling of getting a new pair of glasses and experiencing the world in HD. She knew that nothing would make her happier than to be able to give this gift to others. Being able to detect various diseases like hypertension, diabetes, and even cancer through a pain-free examination of
the eyes is what she loves most about optometry.
Dr. Kallarackal earned her doctorate at The Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She started her clinical training at the school’s eye clinic, The Eye Institute, where she was exposed to a variety of ocular conditions ranging from dry eye to cranial nerve palsies. She completed various externships in the MD, NJ, and PA area including an externship at the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Hospital where she gained invaluable experience in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease.
During her free time, Dr. Kallarackal loves to spend quality time with her family and friends, enjoy nature, keep active at the gym, and spoil her two year old niece, Jiya.
