Dr. Julie H Lieuw grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and attended the University of California at Berkeley. She was awarded the ICO presidential scholarship to attend the Illinois College of Optometry where she graduated Magna Cum Laude & class salutatorian. After graduation, she practiced in Illinois, California, and Washington state due to her husband’s various military assignments. She next moved to Maryland and has now called MD home since 2007 raising two children here.
She developed a special interest in the area of Orthokeratology and myopia (nearsightedness) control when her children first developed myopia at the ages of 10 and 12 knowing that if untreated, their vision would continue to worsen. Her two children, now in their 20s, still continue to wear ortho K lenses with minimal myopia progression. As a member of the Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control, she is part of a unique set of practitioners excelling and specializing in the control of myopia advancement.
She is truly passionate about working with motivated children and parents who are interested in ortho k. She would be happy to discuss whether your child would be a good candidate for this type of treatment.
Outside of the office, Dr. Julie H Lieuw is very involved in the tennis community & loves to travel.
